Skateboarding Australia (SbA) is stretching up for yet another Break-n-Enter event, this time hitting the biggest skate park in Aus! Yep, Cairns Skatepark on Saturday, October 22, 2011 with the support of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Break-N-Enter is a one-day event that will be utilising the Cairns Skate Park to introduce skateboarding to the next generation of shredders. The project is funded by the Prime Minister and Cabinets' Indigenous Sport and Recreation Program who ultimately view indigenous participation in healthy, social activities as good for the nation, and recognises Skateboarding as a great vehicle to achieve such outcomes.
The FREE skateboarding workshops are delivered in a fun festival environment, with all skateboards and helmets freely available on the day. SbA is bringing their best skateboarding coaches to fuel the passion to roll and fly. All SbA coaches are nationally qualified and recognised by the Australian Sports Commission.
Compound Skate Shop has been active in providing activities for the skateboarding youth in the region for years. Compound owner Adam Walker, who has taken on a consulting role for Break N Enter, had this to say "An all inclusive skateboarding event, Break N Enter will build bridges to connect a wide range of young people from around the region and provide a platform to build a brighter future, together!" Learn more about Adam and his generousity to skateboarding over here.
SbA recognise Regional Cairns as large hub for skateboarding with thriving skate park scenes to the North, West, and South, so bus routes are in the process of being organised to shuttle participants to and from the events. The information will become available here as we determine the Routes and Timetable.
Prize packs will be awarded during the workshops as incentive for participation in a fun, active, healthy and safe atmosphere. Some lucky participants will leave the day with shoes, t-shirts, and hats courtesy of Nike SB, as well as hardware from Theeve Trucks who recognise the importance of an initiative such as this. Queensland Country Credit Union will be cooking the snags on the barby, rippa.
Break-n-Enter spots will fill up fast so SbA encourages getting in quick to avoid disappointment.
SbA wishes to thank the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Cairns Regional Council, Theeve Trucks, Nike SB, and Compound Skate Shop for its involvement and encouragement of skateboarding within the community, ensuring the longevity of skateboarding within Australia. [ o ]
